Some See a Weed, Some See a Wish

   A friend of mine recently gave me a small plaque with a sketch of a dandelion puff on it. Next to the drawing of the seeds floating on the wind are these words…”Some see a weed; some see a wish.”  

   How many of us have picked up a dandelion puff as a child, and blown on it to make a wish, watching the seeds scatter as our hopes and dreams soar? My kids used to love to do that. Of course, my husband, who attended the lawn would cringe every time someone made a wish, because he knew it meant more time fertilizing and putting “weed and feed” on the lawn to keep it looking nice. Because the truth is, no matter what you see when you look at a dandelion puff, it is an orb of weed seeds waiting to be spread. We can tell ourselves whatever we want about the dandelion but it does not change the truth of what it is. Some may see a weed, and some may see a wish, but the truth is, it is a weed. Funny thing about truth… It is rather inflexible.

   Why am I trying to ruin all your childhood dreams? I’m not! I’m just making a point, that things are not always what we want them to be. Things are what they are, and sometimes they are what we want them to be and sometimes they are not.
