This is What I’ve Learned... ...About the Golden Rule, From My Neighbors

   “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” 
(Luke 6:31).

   How often have you had to remind yourself to practice this “Golden Rule” that Jesus gave us when it’s come to dealing with some of your more troublesome neighbors?

   Are you currently having some trouble loving and understanding one of your neighbors?

   Well, maybe the trouble’s not just your neighbors!

   Pastor Kevin DeYoung said, “The Bible tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Surely part of loving in this way is trying to understand what another person wants us to understand. I may not understand perfectly and I may not agree, but if I love you I should try to know what it is you wish I could know.” 

   For sometimes, it seems that after several frustrating attempts of “trying to understand what another person wants us to understand,” we can often find ourselves up against a frozen fence of silence that mis-understandings can lead to. No matter where our neighbors might be…whether across the street, at work, or play, even within the church, or our own family!
