How many professing Christians do you know who have been “Christian” for 5,10, 20 years, or their entire lives, who have never shared the Gospel with the lost? How many do you know who share the Gospel at all?
I’ve addressed this before but, if you remove all God’s commands that tell us to “Go...” and to spread/share the Gospel to the lost and to warn them, of the wrath of God and the horrors of hell to come, what does it say about how wicked and depraved our hearts are, when we still will not do so?
And, casually bringing up the Gospel to someone once in a while or when it is convenient, is not “going out” to preach and share the Gospel. Should we be doing it? Absolutely! But, it is not evangelizing the “Good News” that we THINK we have. And, it is certainly not treating the “Great Commission” as life and death, ESPECALLY ETERNAL life and death!
As Charles Spurgeon nailed it so bluntly, “Have you no desire for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself, BE SURE OF THAT!”
How could he say such a thing? Because, he knew that if you realized how magnificent the Gospel is, especially compared to how horrible hell is, and more importantly, if we are being LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, we will treat the Gospel as the magnificence that it is.
There are two primary reasons that we ignore the Great Commission.
The first is because of very poor training, just like most who are ignorant of the significant necessity of Christian tracts (if you are going to be a genuine Christian!), and because we just don’t care about the salvation of souls. Or, it’s a combination of both.
Either way, it is also evidence of two things. First, we are following men and trusting our hearts, rather than God’s Word (His COMMANDS!). And, second, we are falsely converted!
Multiple statistics show that 98% who profess to be Christians, are falsely converted! 98%! That is also the same statistic that shows that 98% do not share the Gospel with others. This is stunning! How can you profess to know the Gospel and the horrors of hell and not be willing to share it with anyone you know is not saved or you do not know if they are saved?
This is the same with abortion. If we say we are against it but we are not actually doing anything to stop it, our response to a holocaust is telling and showing others, how much of a holocaust it really is. It is like pastors who pound in “obedience” as being necessary to follow Jesus but then reduce it to being “nice,” attending a dead church and the absence of criminal behavior! They redefine “obedience” to meaning practically nothing!
If you are not treating the Great Commission as if it is life and death, especially eternal life and death, if you are not treating and responding to abortion, as if they are LITERALLY TORTURING AND MURDERING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT BABIES, DAILY, I would urge you to examine yourself to be sure you are in the faith. Because, even if you removed all the commands to respond to abortion, from the equation, what does it say about how wicked and depraved your heart is, when you continue to ignore them in favor of your “comfort” and leisure?
Add in all the commands to either of these great cries coming out of heaven and you have a real faith issue!
Your RESPONSE to either issue tells/shows others how much of an “issue” it really is (or really is not!).
